The Chairman of CWCH, Professor M Q-K Talukder, is one of the leading Paediatricians and Public Health Nutrition figures in Bangladesh. He was the Founder Director of the Government of Bangladesh Institute of Child and Mother Health (ICMH) between 1994 and 2001, a period which saw the establishment of that Centre of Excellence in Paediatrics, OBGYN and public health. To this day, the ICMH continues fulfilling its objectives of research, training and patient care in the burgeoning fields of MCH and nutrition. Professor Talukder is also deeply engaged in public health research and in national policy level advocacy for nutrition and MCH. In 2013, Professor Talukder played a pivotal role in strengthening the Breast Milk Substitute Code (Law) from its 1982 weaker version. At the national level, there are few in Public Health Nutrition and Paediatrics, who command the sort of respect that is given to Professor Talukder. He is a key figure in national nutrition technical bodies and his opinion is highly sought after and complied with in most important national decisions on nutrition and child health. His contribution to the nutrition and welfare of children and mothers in this country is without parallel.
One of the key members of the CWCH Board of Trustees, Mr. Khondoker Monir Uddin, is a leading business figure in the country, with interests in health care (Apollo Hospitals Dhaka), education (International School Dhaka), real estate (Shanta Properties Ltd), banking (Dhaka Bank Ltd), garments (Shanta Garments Ltd) and chemicals (GDS Chemicals). He has a clear vision about the contribution of philanthropy to human welfare and has already invested about US$ 3 million in the Centre’s development with plans to invest a further US$ 40 million in the Centre’s current expansion to a new hospital building.
CWCH BOT Vice Chairman Mr. Khondoker Jamil Uddin has significant business interests in health care, education, real estate and banking. He is actively involved in sports establishment (cricket and hockey) in Bangladesh.
